Drunk Driver Assaults Police Officer – Jailed
Greater Manchester Police have released CCTV footage of a drunk driver who launched a savage attack on a police officer. James Leonard Forrester, born 29/7/1977, of no fixed address, admitted Section 18 assault (using violence to escape lawful custody) and drink driving. On Tuesday 22 February 2011, he was sentenced to three-years and eight-months in prison at Manchester Crown Court Crown Square. He was also disqualified from driving for five years and will have to take an extended driving test. At about 12.30am on Monday 8 November 2010, a traffic officer was on Stockport Road in Levenshulme, when he noticed Forrester driving a blue Ford Focus that had no lights on, a deflated tyre and smashed side mirror.
